There is a holy well not far from Rathcoyle School and it is said that if you make the sign of the Cross with the water, out of the well and sprinkle it on the warts that you would be cured. - Dockleaves: If you got a sting of a nettle and squeeze a dockleaf on the affected part it would ease the pain.
Sheepswool plucked fresh from a sheep will cure a cold on the chest.
The following is a cure for measles:-
Sheepdroppings boiled in milk and strained, and the liquid then given to the affected person.
Hemlockleaves boiled and made into a poultice is a cure for rheumatism.
If a person had sore eyes and bathed them in cold tea they would get well.
