- ChurningMy father is a farmer who keeps cows. We churn once a week. The cows are milked twice a day. First the milk is strained, and then it is left to sit. Next morning the top or the cream of the milk is put into the milk-pan and left to set.
If a person came into the house while the bean a'tighe would be churning she would say "lay your weight on the dash." Otherwise she would be afraid he would take away the profit (butter)
