    1. Oats chopped & steeped, boiled - strained. Liquid brown. Boiled again. Thick - slippery.
    2. Oat meal was steeped in water. Swelled then. All boiled for a time. Then the mixture was strained - the liquid was put on to boil again. It thickened into a slippery jelly like mass.
    Eaten like stir-about.
