- Most of the local fairs are held in the fair green, of the town, or village where the fair is.
Toll is paid on all cattle, before they enter the fair green; sixpence per head is charged, and this is paid to Mr. Maguire of Belcoo, who owns the fair green.
When cattle are sold the man that brought them usually gets "luck money" which amounts to five shillings, or half a crown. When the cattle are sold, the man that bought them puts a blue mark on their side.
When a bargain has been made, the man who sold the cattle, and the man who bought them, strike hands.
