    what are you crying for, go home and you'll get a cow in the byre." He went home and got what he expected. He called to his wife, and told her to milk the cow. From that day on he was poor no more. Every year, the cow had a calf like herself. In the end the byre filled with white cattle.
    After some time, the farmer thought he would sell the old cow. He took her out on the fair day, but she disappeared behind the hill. All the calves went too. Then the farmer was as poor as ever.
