- Home Made ToysGirls can make "daisy chains". Boys can make "tops" from thread-spools, cradle birds from "Sally-rods" butterfly cages from rushes, snares for catching rabbits and hares from fine wire, and candlesticks and false faces from turnips. The boys also make "slings" with pieces of leather and string.The cradle birds, called in this district "eliabaín" are made from sally-rods. They are shaped something like
the foundation rods being in the form of a square. The eliabaín is then "set". It is placed with one end raised a distance and by means of three rods it is held in this position. The bird enters and by perching on one of the rods causes the eliabaín to fall down over her.(continues on next page)
