    People sought cures for ailments in former times by performing superstitious rites. Here are some of the cures:
    Smouldering brown paper held to the jaw until burned out, is a cure for toothache.
    A sore on the hand or foot can be cured by the lick of, a dog.
    If a young child had Measles, an ass was brought into the living-house, and two persons stood, one on each of the ass.
    The person on one side of the ass would hand the child under the ass to the person on the otherside, and when that person got it, he would hand it over the ass back to the other person. This rite was performed three times and was supposed to be a cure for Measles.
    A man having Jaundice was cured in a very perculiar way
