- Drumlane Abbey is situated near the little village of Miltown, about three miles from Belturbet.
It is the ruins of an old church and it is said that the bell that was in the church is at the bottom of the lake that it is built beside. There are alot of superstitions about it, it is said that men carried away the stones to build some kind of a building, and at night the building was tossed, this continued for some time, and in the end the men left back the stones where they got them. There is a round tower at it, and it is a good state of preservation. It is said there are about 80 round towers, in Ireland and the round tower at Drumlane Abbey is one of them. It is said that the round towers were built as places of safety, when the Danes were in Ireland. It is said that these round towers were used as watch towers, when the people climbed up to the top of the tower they could see a long way off.- Collector
