One morning in May, as primrose sprang gay,
And the Valleys being spangled all around.
The birds on each tree, join in sweet melody.
They would charm the air with their sound,
My mind free from care, and some time for to spare
My blood dancing in every vein;
My heart full of glee, being bent on a spree
And I went to see lovely Drumlane.
II
As I walked by the Grove, where fond lovers rove
The rose tipped with the bright dew of morn,
In a blooming sweet shade, I beheld a fair maid
Sitting under a snowy white thorn.
As I stood on the road near a rural abode
The place is called Nixon's demense.
Till at length she did say, must I part you this day
My gallant young Knight of Drumlane.
