- There are two forges in the parish. The smiths are John Brady and Pat Cahill. Neither of their fathers were smiths before them. One forge is situated in Ballyhaise and the other at the Creamery. The door is of no special shape. There is one fire place within. There are two sticks down in the ground and the bellows is in between the sticks and they go into the fire and there is a chain going from the bellows to a stick which goes across to blow them.
He uses a hammer a sledge, piners, chisel, augers, anvil, a drill rasp, and a file.
He shoes horses and asses.
