  1. Long ago there were no toys for children the mothers would make dolls out of cloth for little girls. She would roll a little wadding in a hard lump for the head and then would cover it with cloth and mark a face on it and then sew on a cloth from the head. The dolls had no legs or arms.
    For neck-laces they gathered chestnuts, and made a hole in the middle and then string them.
