- On the road leading to Kilnaleck there s a steep incline locally called "Leahery" brae. At the foot of this hill there is a shore. One day when a man was making this drain, it collapsed and the man was killed instantly. Ever since this shore has been called the "dead shore".
- On the road leading from Crosskeys to Stradone there is a big hill and it is always referred to as "Market Hill". It is a very sheltered place and it was there the old Irish held their fairs and markets and thus it got its fitting title "Market Hill".
