  1. The local fairs are held in Cavan and Ballyjamesduff. They are always held in towns. When cattle are dear buyers often go to farmers' houses and buy the cattle. Some years ago fairs were held in Stradone and Crosskeys but they have been discontinued.
    In Cavan the horses and pigs are sold in the streets and the cattle are sold on a hill outside the town. In Ballyjamesduff horses, cattle, sheep and pigs are sold in the streets. In olden times toll was given, but it is not given now. The toll was given to the landlord. When an animal is sold, the man
