- There are ten fairy forts in the school district, three in Knockanork, three in Carriga, two in Corrawillan, and two in Lavey. They are all called forts. Some of them are in view of one another. They are all circular in shape. They are all surrounded by a fence of earth and trees. There are entrance holes in each of them. It is thought that the Danes built them. I do not know for what purpose. It is said that the fairies lived in them. It is also said that music was often heard in them at night. The owners of the land where the forts are, never interfered with them when ploughing or planting crops. Lights have never been seen about the forts at night.(continues on next page)
