A house in Moher had an old "churn" for a chimney. - The houses in olden times were long, low houses made of mud-wall. They were thatched houses. The thatch was procured from straw and rushes. The old houses had a bed in the kitchen. It was placed in the corner beside the fire. The fireplace was in the corner and sometimes it was against the side-wall.
