  1. St Bridget is the patron saint of Larah. There is a church still in use under her patronage. An old story is told in connection with her travels in this district.
    She was a very beautiful lady, and on this account many of the young men of the country were after her thinking that she might fall in love with some of them.
    One day as she was out walking through the meadows she heard a noise behind her and on looking round she saw a man coming towards her. She began to run and soon came to the river which flows through the meadow adjoining the chapel, and this blocked her way. Her enemy was coming up very close to her now, and sooner than let him overtake her it is said
