- Once upon a time there was a gipsy in Killeshandra and he could hold the wheel of a cart on his chin and could hold a bicycle and a ladder also. There are certain spots in Killeshandra where the stay. They also camp in Portaliffe, and a good many more places. They stay for about a week. You would see some of them selling tins and gallons. You would see some of them selling flowers and ballads and brooches. Some of them sing and more play fiddles and dance. Some of the women sell gallons and when the get a cup of tea and when paying for it they tell the men or women of the house their fortunes. The people in our days do not believe in fortune telling.
