    The marriages long ago were different to now-a -days. There were no motor-cars, only side-cars and saddle horses and they would have a race as to who would be home first. All the friends and neighbours of both parties would be present and they would eat and drink, dance and sing until next morning. They had superstition so regards the picking of the gender, the boy would not bring any girl with him. Now it is different. There are no weddings - the married couple go away for week or two in their honeymoon. It is the custom for thegirl not to come back home for a month. This is called the Hauling-home.
    I got this story from my mother.
