    About 70 years ago a family named Kavanagh lived in Dernaferst. They owned a small patch of land and lived in a semi mudwall cabin. The boys left home and one of them became a teacher and the mother and one daughter named Nancy were left in the cabin.
    Nancy got delicate and went to sleep and slept for seven years. The cabin was beside the road and the people (neighbours) were good to this pair and carried provisions to them. Time passed and the girl slept on. Anyone was at liberty to visit her - she was asleep to everyone. The Priest of the Parish Canon Corcoran visited the house regularly and he often told me the story of this strange girl.
    When her story got abroad hundreds of visitors came to the cabin, saw the girl asleep and went away wondering yet satisfied.
    On one occasion two doctors called. They wanted proof of the sincerity of the whole thing so they applied needles, lighted matches to her feet but all to no purpose. She slept on. On this occasion
