With the soldiers of brave Owen Roe,
And hurriedly marching to meet him
Press forward the troops of Munroe.
With Scots from the Clyde and Loch Lomond
And puritan spears from the Tweed, Oer the hills of Stradone and Benvarra
And the meadows of Arva they speedFierce ruffians and raiders full many,
Are ranged" neath the flag of the Scot,
And their pathway is marked by the burning
Of rafter in castle and cot.
The reined not their steeds till before them,
Fair Granard loomed up on their way,
Then with bright shining banners and bayonets
They halt on the bridge of Finea.Twas a fair sight to see them all marching
And gallant and fair to behold,
Their spears in the bright sunlight shining,
And the red flag of Britain unrolled,
And braver re'er harnessed for battle
Nor mustered for foray or fray
Then the clans that the Scottish chief rallied
