  1. One time there lived a landlord in Drumcarbin called Bell. He was such a man that if a person paid the rent to day he would put that person out to morrow. The young men of the country formed a resolution and combined themselves together to shoot him. But they did not know who would do it. They held a draw. It fell on a young man a widow's son. Dolan said,"you would not be man enough to shoot him I will do it. Your the only son of a widow and if I am hanged there is no one to lament for me".
    Dolan went to the town of Crossdoney with his gun loaded. He met Bell comming from church in his trap. Dolan asked him the time of day, "Go away you papish puppy", said Bell, "I can make no delay," "Delay you will make," said Dolan, when turning round again he instantly drew his pistol
