  1. Once upon a time I heard my father say that there were very big potatoes long ago around this district of Ballyjamesduff.
One day there was a man named Paddy Gerity digging potatoes in a field. When he was near the middle of a ridge he thought he hit a stone with the spade and he could not get it up.
He went into the house for help, and when he got the help they were able to lift up the thing, but it was not a stone, it was a big potato, and the potato rolled down the field until it met a big stone, and the people around this district say that the potato was so big that it split the stone in two places.
