  1. The Gander Bush.
On the road known locally as the Boat Road which leads to the ferry there is a lone bush called the Gander Bush, and it is believed to be haunted. Old people used to say the colour of the Gander Bush was almost jet black, and superstitious people believed it to be an evil spirit. The story says the bird would appear at midnight clappings its wings and uttering will screams and disappearing as quickly as he had come. The bush was an object of terror and nervous people would not venture to pass it after nightfall.
