  1. The cow-houses' to-day are all cemented but long ago they were only old houses built of stone. The cowhouse is called the manger. In the middle of the floor there is a big stick stuck in the ground. There is an iron ring on the stick and a thick rope with a crook on the end of it. The rope is put round the cows neck and the crook is put into the ring.
