    widow and she had one son called Jack. Jack was a lazy lad who would not help his mother. So to get money; the widow sent him out to sell their last cow. On his way to the Fair Jack met a man with a hat of beams: he gave the cow in exchange for the beans. His mother was very angry; she threw the beans out of the window and Jack went to bed without any upper. Next morning the beans had grown into a tall plant. Jack climbed the stalk and found himself in a strange land. He came to a giant's castle; the giant's wife brought him in and hid him in a press, when the giant came in for his supper.
