    outside world. Food became scarce as delivery was impossible. Aeroplanes were chartered and they dropped food in the impoverished areas.
    After the storm large crowds of men were engaged to sweep away the snow and clear the roads that were blocked.
    Weeks after the last of the hidden towns were opened up to road traffic again.
    The Summer sun was shedding its rays across the country when the last of the snow disappeared from behind the hedges and ditches.
