A Local Song (continued)
“Come all you young fellows that's fond of a joke”
(continued from previous page)That she would go every inch to tell Mr. Pogue,
"Go then", said I, and as quick as you can,
And down the road like the devil she ran,
James in the shop spied the old goat for to stop,
The first place he caught her was by the back bone,
"O Mary come on or my hand he'll destroy",
So my brave Marry Polly that never was slack,
James held the goat till she took the straws of her back,
The last place she was seen was in Jack Daly's farm,
But I fear in my heart Mickey Lynch has her skint. This song was composed by Patrick Mc Philips who lived in the locality. An old goat went roaming around the district causing an amount of damage to stacks of corn etc. The youths living around when they found there was no owner caught her and took her to town and sold her.- Collector
