  2. There are four forges in the parish of Lurgan. There is one in Lurgan, two in Virginia and one in Maghera. The one in Lurgan is situated beside a cross-roads.
    The forge is a house with a door on it in the shape of a horse shoe. The forge is slated. There is one fireplace inside. The bellows is fixed in the wall with a handle attached to it. The bellows is not made locally. In working the blacksmith uses an anvil, a hammer, a sledge, tongs and a bellows. The smith shoes horses and asses
