There are also old roads leading to these towns called byeroads. They are still in use but are seldom used by motor cars.
People living on those byeroads have to use them to get to the main road. The Bailieboro road was made in the "Black-Forty-Seven", That was the year of the famine. The men's wages for making the road was 1 lb of meal in the day. The men that worked at the roads in those times are all dead. There are paths across the country gong to schools and Chapels, also planks across rivers for(continues on next page)
