night the tails were cut off the cattle and he was haunted at night. He never goes near it when labouring the field now.
There is a fort in John Smith's field in Greaghhadoo. It is called "The Fort Field". It covers about a rood of ground. A big hedge and a ditch are around it. He keeps it fenced so that his animals can't go in. It is said that fairies live in it.
About sixty years ago Nicholas Smyth's grandmother was going to mass. It was Christmas morning about five o'clock and a hearse came out of the fort and passed her on the lane.
Phil Smith went astray beside the fort and when morning came he was in his own house. It was said the fairies carried him home.
