    the first in the district to sell a chest of tea. An ounce of tea that time was thought to be a big amount, and a pound of sugar was as much as any farmer bought. The people were stronger than nowadays. Bad teeth were never heard of because that hard food never stuck in the holes in the teeth. No mugs nor cups were used but wooden noggins were used instead. The people grew rye and made rye bread.
