    Mr Eddie O Reilly of Killann told me that he thought the way teacher's were paid long ago that the children would give him a penny or twopence a week. Some people who had a good deal of land would give the teacher a cart load of turf or a cart load of potatoes or corn. My father's grandmother went to this school and she spoke nothing but the Irish language. This shows you that there was nothing taught but Irish in those school's.
