The sky turns very black, when there is going to be heavy rain. When the mist comes in across the mountain, there is going to be rain. Dust rising off the road is a sign of rain. The lake looks dark, and the waterfalls run noisely to warn us of plenty of rain. When the clegs come it is a sign of good weather. The spiders creep from their webs, and the midges bite, when there is going to be rain. The smoke goes straight up the chimney for fine weather. A blue blaze is seen in the fire, and the smoke "flows over" for a storm of snow and frost.
