People who have been working hard in the shops can spend these days in rest or fun. It is on this day that boys dress up and go from house to house burying the wren. They dance and sing and say this rhyme. The wren the wren the king of all birdsOn St. Stephens Day she was caught in the furzeThe birds so small her family greatRise up old woman and give us a threat Up with the kettle and down with the pan A penny or two pence to bury the wren If you do not give them something they bury the wren at your door and this is supposed to bring bad luck for a year.
