to her economical but sensible husband. One day when he was in a mild mood she told him to buy a car for Sonny. He thought she was mad at first but a length he gave in to sell his pony and buy the car. He had plenty of bidders for his lovely pony but the best bidder was a gypsy. However, Sonny got a new car at one hundred and sixty pounds and after some driving practice he brought the car to mass and unfortunately killed a neighbour's sow and greatly damaged the car. The old man was greatly displeased at having to pay nine pounds compensation and he made the son sell the car and went out to the fair himself to buy a pony. Unknown to himself, he bought his own pony back off the gypsies well clipped and dyed at twenty six pounds after selling it to them for eight pounds. Hearing his neighbours say it was like his last pony he looked in his mouth and had to get a cup of water when he knew it by a broken tooth.
