    "One for sorrow
    Two for joy
    Three for a girl
    And four for a boy
    Five for silver
    Six for gold
    Seven for a young man
    And eight for an old".
    Its said to be unlucky to find a pin on the road and the point of it towards you. It is said it is lucky to find a horse shoe and to lift it and carry it a piece of the road. There are no superstitions about seeing the first star or lamb or foal. It is said that a four-leafed shamrock will grow for seven years in a place where a mare foals.
    It is considered very unlucky to start work on Saturday for "Saturday's flit makes a short sit". If a person gets a new pair of boots on Friday he shouldn't wear them until Monday or he will have them a very short time. There are some superstitions about getting married on the different days of the week. The following is the rhyme that was made.
