  1. Long ago people were thought to have the power to cure sickness.
    There lived a man in Knockbride called Lynch whom the people thought to have power to cure cows but he died and after him came a woman named Biddy Golrick. She was generally called "Biddy the thread". She lived in Killinkere.
    No matter what animal about a house got sick they went for Biddy. If it was a cow she would say she was elf-shot that a brown stone fell out of heaven at her.
