- There are many diseases now-a-days compared with long ago. The most common of them are the 'measles', 'mumps', 'flue' and ring-worm. Some people say that the cure of the stie is to get ninty goose-berry thorns and prick the stie with them, for nine mornings. The cure for the ring-worm is to get a leaf of the wild curem brush and rub it on the spot where the ring-worm is. The cure for mumps is to put asses winkers on the person who has the disease and make them go around the pig-stye nine times.(continues on next page)
