- The local fairs are held months in the adjoining towns of Belturbet and Cavan. Buyers still buy cattle at the farmers' houses on occasions.
A fair used to be held at Redhills, but has been discontinued. There were not enough cattle in the surrounding to make it worth the buyers' while to come to it.
No tradition of fairs having been held on hills, near cemeteries etc.
The fairs are in special fair fields. No toll is paid on cattle sold.
Luck-money called " a luck penny" is given when an animal is sold.(continues on next page)
