    shots across Killabandrick lake at those that were round the bon-fire. One of the bullet's knocked a branch off a tree but happily thise that were round the bon-fire escaped.
    After he fired the shots he shouted that he would put the rebels from the bon-fire. Instead of being punished for firing the shots he got police protection afterwards. This was the kind of law we had in Co Cavan at that time.
    Townlands that changed their names.
    Where Master Armstrong's house is to-day, was known long ago as
    Drum-a-doras. Where Dan Smyths of Killabandrick is to-day was called Drum-a-keenan. It
