    for seven years. At the end of the seventh year he was going working in a fort when he looked out in the Shannon. He heard the neigh of a horse. Then the animal he had tackled began to neigh very loud and jump. He grasped at the reins to keep her but she shook the tackling from her and made for the Shannon. He saw seven other white horses going too. They went out in the water and he never saw them again. It is said that every white horse in Clare is descended from that horse.
