- We have got a churn at home. It is two feet ten inches high and one foot nine inches wide at the top and the bottom. In the centre it is one foot three inches wide. It it twenty years old. The jabbler or coppin, dash and lid are the different parts that are on it. On the sides of it there are two handles. Twice a week in the Summer the churning is done, and once in the winter.My mother and brother does the churning. If a stranger came in during churning period he would not have to take a brash. Long ago if a stranger came in during churning time he would take a brash. It was thought if he did not he would take the profit with him. Also if a man came(continues on next page)
