- Long ago the young lads played town ball. corners, pitch and toss, skittles and cat and dog.
The way they played town-ball was first to count the players. Next have half of them in town and the other half on the field. Third they made four dens and if anyone ran back to their den or lifted the ball would be burned. That was for the crowd that was in but for the crowd that was out if they caught the ball coming from the other person's hand without letting it touch the ground would be in.
