- There are four graveyards in the parish of Athboy. St. Laurance's graveyard in Rathmore, The "Members" in the Hill of Ward, St. James;s in Martinstown and another in Athboy. All the graveyards are still in use.
Some of the Hill of Ward graveyard is round. Rathmore is not so level. A lot of trees are growing in them.
The churchyard in Rathmore and in the HIll of Ward have very old crosses and tombs.
The oldest dates in Athboy graveyard are - 1118, 1516 and 1746. Those tombs are very much bent with moss and ivy on them. None of them are made of iron or wood.(continues on next page)- Collector
