the "Watery Boreen" which is situated in Multyfarnham. They were travelling in a pony and trap and the pony on hearing the noise refused to go an inch further. At last the man threw a rug over his head and he raced home. He was unable to work for weeks after the event.
It is supposed to have been the "Multy Trotter" that haunts the place. It is a big dog with fierce eyes who growls and hinders people from passing. A priest said that everybody who passed by could make the sign of the cross whether it be day or night.
