  1. One night Pat Connor was coming across John Gray's hill. It was fairly late - about eleven o'clock and what did he see under a hawthorn bush but a leprechaun with a silver spade on his shoulder. He did his best to catch him but, because he was a bit lame the little red fellow got ahead and disappeared
