Caherdrini Castle
There is an old castle about ten miles from the village of Kilbehenny. It was built by a certain Lord Fermoy on a very dry spot. This man had one son and there was an old prophecy that he would be drowned before he reached his fourteenth birthday. The words of the prophecy are as follows
"Infant heir of proud Fermoy,
Fear not the fields of slaughter,
Storm or fire dread not my boy
But shun the fatal water"
So that this would not come true Fermoy began to build where there was no water. One day in the course of construction he went to see it and he brought his son with him.(continues on next page)- Collector
