    Many years ago a man was making a short-cut through the Knockmealdown mountains. He was accompanied by his dog. On looking behind him he observed a great crown of people following him. Some were laughing, others moaning and others talking. The man was immediately seized with terror and he ran down the mountain to a friend's house. It was rather late in the night and his friend was in bed but on hearing the knocking at the door he arose and was rather surprised to
