    In the most of the houses there was only one door in the front. They were tied by means of a wooden bolt at the back. This bolt was sometimes called a padlock.
    There was usually a half door in every house also. There was only two or three windows in the largest of the houses and these were very small.
    They had plenty of dry turf to make fires at that time. The means of light they had was splinters of bogdeal, and candles. Candles were made from tallow
