    the stalks are above the ground they are softened. Then they are landed. Then the farmer sprays the stalks to keep the blight off them. With disolved blu-stone they spray them. Then the farmer digs them out and someone else picks them and puts them into a pit. The pit is about two feet deep and is covered and the potatoes are left there for the years.
    Long ago the people used to make bread out of potatoes called and the water they used to take out of the potatoes was used to make starch.
